The Problem With AtheistsSometimes there are stories on the internet about atheists being "discriminated" because of their beliefs. Yes, I know they don't call it a belief, but that doesn't change the fact that it is. The thing I actually want to talk about is the fact that I feel deep satisfaction everytime I read such a story, and the reasons why I feel this way. To make something clear up front: I don't have a problem with people being atheists and saying so. It's the same as with jehova's witnesses, scientologists and people who might believe the universe was created by an omnipotent poodle. But I have a problem with people trying to argue that their belief system is the correct one. And atheists are the ones doing that the most in these days. I've come to the point where I find them even more annoying than christians. But let's start at the beginning. Why do I recognize atheism as a belief, and not the "truth," as they demand? Their argument is that their point of view is backed up by the scientific method, and therefore right. To get a picture about how I think about the scientific method, you might want to read up another article of mine. Some, if not most, atheists just can't stand that someone doesn't share their belief and is not ridiculed and mocked upon. But when I start arguing with them, they get angry. They seem to think that mocking other people is part of the scientific method. Poor fellows, aren't they? If they become aware of the fact that I just don't care about them and their rather limited horizon, they mostly get defensive and aggressive. If this doesn't sound like denial and religious psychosis, what does? There are even websites and blogs only about atheism, about it's superiority, and about how dumb the rest of the world is compared to them. Where those "piles of wisdom without thinking for oneself" can gather and tap each other on the shoulder when they assume themselves that the world is doomed because it's not working according to their faith. So, to make it clear one last time: You can believe whatever you want. But if you start telling me you're the one who's right, it's rather ridiculous to condemn people who believe (or just don't not believe, for that matter) in something because it doesn't fit in your system, if your system itself has flaws all over it's place. They are wrong because they can't prove to you god exists? They are wrong because they can't prove to you that occultism works? Well, how about proving first that your system of proofs is even sane? So please do us all a favor, and stop whining that your beliefs are handled like everyone else's, especially by your kind. |
